This causes my frequency to change, so it's clearly a mechanical problem with the dial. Is this something that has been seen frequently? Is there a way to repair it? thanks in advance, Peter W2CDO From wx5l at charter.net Fri Aug 8 07:59:16 2014 From: wx5l at charter.net (WX5L) Date: Fri, 8 Aug 2014 06:59:16 -0500 Subject: [1000mp] Power Supply FP-29 for Mark V In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: <003501cfb300$2dfb4e90$89f1ebb0$@net> Hello, Is there anyone out there in Yaesu land that may have a FP-29 collecting dust......that the Mark V has died and left the FP-29 an orphan? The Rubber on the main knob must be removed loosen a set screw in the knob remove the knob then move the spring around the shaft to the right to tightend(more) tension on knob. There are pictures in rear of 1000mp manual about this. Hope that helps otherwise you might have a loose optical encoder but that would seem unlikely.? 73 wa4mit? Search online and I think maybe even Brian Campbell has something on his website about it if not you can email him. When repairing it the mail chip is proprietor and is about $100 or more. You are better off to use an external analog 12 volt and 30 volt supply. The analog supplies are more reliable. Carefully twist off the tension spring and remove. If the little retaining ring comes off, set it aside. Now wipe off the grease that has seeped onto the shaft USING ONLY A PAPER TOWEL. NO DEGREASER!! I wiped off the inside of the knob, the inside of the retaining ring and the spring as well, again using only the paper towel. When you're done, put the ring back on, screw the spring back on (Byron recommends screwing it on somewhat tightly), then return the knob and set the set screw. Test the dial for tension and adjust the spring as you prefer, then make sure the set screw is engaged and replace the rubber ring and you're set. Kudos to Byron and Morris. 73, Peter > From: ve6ax at telus.net > To: wa4mit at yahoo.com; 1000mp at mailman.qth.net > Date: Fri, 8 Aug 2014 10:20:29 -0600 > Subject: Re: [1000mp] Main VFO Dial Slips > > Hi Morris > I am interested in this as well.
