[1000mp] Serial Port

Dear Tom:   The chip controlling the serial port is delicate and since it is 
connected to the outside world it eventually fails.  A more rugged part 
exists, but is no fun to replace.  Strong reason for using sockets for chips 
that connect to the outside.
Details must be in the achieves.    I gave my extra chips away.
