[1000mp] Mark V & scanning

Is it possible to start make the Mark V begin "memory scan" without having a the hand mic connected ? Or any mic for that matter.

The manual shows how to begin memory scan by pushing either the "up or down" buttons on the hand mic and that works fb, but I don't usually have a mic connected to my Mark V.

Tried using the "up & down" buttons on the rig itself, but no go.
