Can you rx/tx from jack B? Try attaching a long wire to the RX only antenna
jack on the back and see if you can hear anything, at least that way you
will know if it's anything serious. A friend of mine in Utah had to install
some in line gas tube surge suppressors/arresters after a lighting storm
caused damage to his Mark V.
