Thanks so much for the replies. I located a service manual online and I'll
put see what I can do.

73s, Dave.

Hi David,

Sounds like the Local Unit board located under the Antenna Tuner - hard to
get at but it is do-able.
Probably one of the phase locked loops has quit oscillating - the one that
is for 20 meters. If you are lucky it might come to life if you "tweak" that

stage with a tuning tool to get it going again. What happens sometimes the
voltage drops off shutting down the oscillator. It is a known problem and
sometimes it can be a cold solder joint then requiring removal of the local
unit board to access the solder side and by examining the solder joints with

a magnifying glass you can see an "iffy" jointor two which you can re-heat.
CAUTION: you have to be careful when handling this and other boards to use a

grounded anti-static wrist strap to ensure you don't harm the board
components. I has similiar symptons with my 'MP except it was all bands -
the sub-receiver worked OK but no receive or transmit on any bandand turned
out it was a transistor supplying voltage to all the phase lock loop
circuits.
If you don't have the service manual I suggest you borrow or buy one as it
is an asset for servicing the "MP.

Hope you can solve the problem.

73,

Deric, VY2DA
