When I had a Mark V i heard about this issue but never noticed it in practice. My amp was very sensitive to overdriving but never complained about this radio.

I have heard that when the Mark V is keyed up that there is a 200 Watt spike in milleseconds, is this true? I am purchasing an amp that does not want more than 100 watts drive. Before I fry the amp, I just need to know if there is any truth or falicy to this. I know I can set the output power, but also was told that this would not cure the momentary spike?
Tnx, John ND1X
