That sounds like a really good investment. I am working on creating an
English language manual for TR4W. TR4W is the TR Log conversion from a DOS
program to one that runs on Windows 98, Windows XP, Windows Vista and
Windows 7. 

Many people on the TR4W reflector have asked about using USB to Serial
adapters because they have no LPT or maybe even no Serial ports. If one can
get a box that allows as many ports as eight, then that would allow the two
radios of SO2R, a computer managed rotator and the keying control for each
of the radios to be accommodated. In addition one can have a separate serial
port for FSK and RTTY control. 

At the moment band data is provided from the computer via LPT output.
FT1000X folks can get that same information directly from their radios.

I now use an edgeport usb serial port box, it has 8 ports on mine
And works flawlessly for both comms and sending cw,rtty etc.
