Hello Otto,
It can be disassembled. You can apply some silicone grease.
Exactly as Rob suggests. Watch out for snapping some of the wires when assembling. It will make a very distinct noise then.

one thing to watch out for is the wires to the top cabinet speaker can
drape down into the fan and prevent it from spinning.
Be sure the speaker leads are held up out of the way of the fan.
