[1000mp] FT1000MP MK-V Help Needed/Appreciated. . . . .

I would most certainly appreciate any comments, suggestions, and/or  advice.
 
Recently inherited my Uncle's FT-1000 MP MK-V.    I know  that it was in 
active use until it was put in storage about a year ago.
Everything is connected properly, but transceiver will not power up at all  
- - - no audio, no display, transceiver is totally dead, except that the 
power  supply's red light blinks about every two seconds.
Is there any possibility that this simply indicates a blown fuse in the  
transceiver ??
Or. . . . .with just very modest repair/troubleshooting skills, is it time  
to box it up and look for a repair facility??
