Hello Alex,
Thank you for counting your experience with the FT-1000MP.
Reading the text, seems to me that the cause can be some bad-contact or
locked relay. I go to try to remove tuner outside and to reflow the PCB.
Can be some broken solder. Later I come back to tell if I have success.
Thank you again!
73,
Marcus - PP5MS

I had similar behaviour with my 1000MP (regular, not mark) for almost
a year about two years ago.
I also did everything I could - resetting it, replacing battries etc -
it did not help.
I was about to send it for service along with a few other things like
broken push button I never use etc...
I never did that and then I moved to my new house and tuner started to
work again once in a while :)
I happened to have a vertical... It was around the time of VP6DX
expedition when I tried and finally worked them on 80m into barely
tuned antenna. There was some very familiar to some of us slight smell
of burning electric and dust and you know what? That tuner works great
since then...
I dont know what happened - sticky relay shaken durinng the move, or
excessive dust burned out. Who knows :)
