Jerry,

I think I saw another similar answer, but just in case....

If you normally use just one of the antenna connections, e.g. ant A,
try using the other.  If it works OK, then a nortorious MP1K bug
has bitten you.  The wire from the center of the coax jacks on the
back panel is a short piece of solid copper that connects to the
RF PC board in the radio.  Over time, flexing of the conductor in
the jack breaks the solder connection where the wire joins the PCB.
It can often be cured by simply removing the top cover of the radio
and heating the joint with a soldering iron (a little flux helps clean
the joint as well).  To reduce the possiblity of this happening again,
use a piece of smaller, more flexible coax to connect the radio
to the antenna or tuner
