Lou:  Yep that would work fine I would think.  The Yaesu tech didn't 
mention that possibility.The MkV Manual notes that the FP-29 must be 
powered up prior to the MkV.

What is the matter with turning the power supplies on first....then the 
Mark
V?....it would seem that would eliminate the problem?....

Hal:  During a discussion with Yaesu a Technician, he cautioned me
about using separate 12 and 30 VDC supplies to power up my FT-1000MP
MkV after my FP-29 went South.  He noted that the FP-29 supply voltages
came up simultaneously and anything otherwise could damage the
transceiver.

Now the chore is to find a linear 50 volt supply for the Yaesu FT-2000
that uses 13.8 and 50.0 Volts.

I'm looking for an old Telco charger for -48V battery supply
and will replace the caps and use the Astron 70M for the 13.8
side of the supply, as the '2000d uses a switcher, too.

okay hal thanks.   i just needed a rough idea, not an exact amount.   I
think you sent something with some figures to the reflector.   it's
good to know there's an alternative to the yaesu supply, which I'm using
for now since it's still working, knock on wood.

the new thing i've heard is wall warts are chinese switchers now and
radiate hash like crazy.
