Hello all,

I do surface mount repair as this is what I do for a living. You can send just a board or the whole radio. give me a buzz on this site.

Thanks for the info, Ed.

Where did you locate the "control boad"? Was It pricey?

Hi Larry, from Ed KG4W. Been there, and thought for a short while about trying to replace the chip but quickly gave up that idea. Unless one has the tools and is proficient with "surface mounted" chips I think its best to stay away. You might try Byron at the url below -

I found an entire "control board" & replaced the whole board.

For the 2nd time in about 10 years, lightning has taken-out the CAT control chip in my MP.

Last time, I had a local service tech repair it, but I've lost track of the guy. How difficult is it
to obtain and replace that chip?

Outside of the obvious (disconnecting all cables and antennas), is there a way to protect this chip
or replace it with something more robust?

		Thanks!

		73,
		Larry K4AB
