[1000mp] FT-1000MP help needed.....

Phil,
My guess would be that some of the ribbon cables coming from the front 
panel need to be reseated, possibly because of oxidation. A glance at 
the service manual, which is widely available for download, should give 
you an idea of which cables you need to play with.
