[1000mp] FT-1000MP help needed.....

My MP has developed a problem wherein some of the front panel controls
do not work.  The most serious is that the mode and filter selection buttons
do not work.  I have discovered that I can change mode using the rig control
software in my logging program via the CAT interface.  The filter selection
changes by default when using the CAT to switch between SSB and AM.

Can anyone suggest areas to look at for the problem?  Can anyone suggest
rig control software that will let me control the rig more fully from my
computer?
