Dear Carl,

There is a bad relay in the radio.

Please forgive my nebulosity; it's that I had a similar defect, but my
entire RF lab was closed down when my company started to wind up field
operations and the radio, the relay, and all the paperwork is packed
away in crates, somewhere, not here.

However, the situation is not bleak. There is common knowledge about
relays called NAIS or similar, on this reflector, and they are not
expensive and not a total horror to
install.
