[1000mp] RTTY operation question

I want to thank everyone for the comments and suggestions on this topic. I
believe I have sufficient information to make an informed decision. Clearly
the 'MP is not designed for 100 watts output key down all day in RTTY mode. 

I think the most cogent comment for me was the suggestion by Phil, NA4M,
that I use the menu 4-0 to limit the output power to 50 watts. Doing that in
conjunction with keeping the duty cycle relatively low [preferably 50% or
less] should protect the radio from thermal damage. Obviously, limited long
conversations -- either type fast or be very taciturn. [laconic].
Since the signal penalty is only 3 dB {1 S-unit} I suspect no one will
notice the reduced power.
