Last evening at the MWA Autumn meeting there were presentations outlining
how to get on the air for RTTY contesting. One of the caveats mentioned was
that RTTY has a nearly 100% duty cycle during contest operation. I am not
near my FT1000MP operator's manual and even if I could look up what is
written, I would like to know if anyone has used the out-of-the-box FT1000MP
at full output [nominally 100w] for at least an hour in heavy RTTY contest
operation without thermal overload.
If you have made changes to the cooling systems and then run heavy RTTY
contest operation at 100 watts output [successfully] I would like to know
that too.
If trying to do this is a 'dumb idea' in your opinion, that would be of
interest as well.
As the First Law of Life states: "Trauma Teaches: but it doesn't have to be
your Trauma"
I would welcome 'Trauma' or 'Trauma avoidance' stories that can give me
guidance.
