OK that makes sense, now to do some looking in the manual and see what
buttons I need to push.  (Don't use the tuner that much either, in fact
forgot this rig even had one, which is bad.)

Every time you ask the tuner to tune, it fills a memory.  There are two
memories only per band.  When you select the band, if you push the band
button one time,  it will take you to where ever you left the frequency set
last time and mode.  If you press the band button again, when you were in
CW, it will take you to that frequency and mode.  So your radio can be set
up and remember settings for SSB and CW within the same band, including one
memory position for each part of the band.

Therefore, if you have already memorized just one setting for twenty meters
SSB, that is the new starting point for the tuner, next time you want to
retune.  That is why you must do a reset if your tuner will not reach 1:1.
