[1000mp] Malfunctioning MP.

I have an MP issue I cannot resolve without help.
In an email to this list several weeks ago, I described a problem with
the LCD display in an FT1KMP which had been idle for about a year. Six
segments were stuck ON in the VFO A frequency display--3 each on the
tens and ones digits. Another listee offered a display from his MP that
was damaged in transit on a DXpedition for a nominal price. I took the
offer and installed the replacement display last night.
The replacement display works fine--but the radio does not. I used this
radio in early October in the Cal QSO Party from my contest location a
few hours away; at that time it worked fine, except for the display. I
did not check it when I brought it home, nor before replacing the
display, so I do not know whether the problem is independent of the
display replacement. I did replace the original display--if anything,
even less functionality--and then again installed the replacement display.
Symptoms
A substantial number of buttons do not function (no beep, no function):
* Bandwidth group. I have a full complement of filters; none of the
BW selections work, nor does the IF selector.
* Mode group. CW and AM buttons do not work at all. RTTY, Packet,
USB and AM buttons select 2.4 kHz filters; FM selects 6 kHz.
* Meter group: the IC/SWR button does not work; the other two
buttons do.
* Antenna selector group; non-functional
* VFO A/VFO B: RX and TX buttons/indicators are lit but do not
respond. DUAL engages VFO B and lights the Sub-VFO LCD. FAST and
LOCK are OK.
* Keypad and Memory group: VFO/MEM, A>B, A><B, M>A, M CK, A>M,
RPT--the top two rows---do not function, but SPLIT does. SPLIT
also moves the TX focus to VFO B--but TX focus cannot be moved
back to VFO A. RCL appears to work, but STO does not. DUAL appears
to work. In the keypad itself, 1 through 6 (1.8-18 MHz) do not
work, but (21 MHz) through ENT do--with a caveat. See below*.
* Right side: Tuner buttons and NOTCH do not work; NB1, NB2, MEM
GROUP and the MEM/VFO CH selector work. EDSP does not work.
* Bottom: Nothing to the right of VFO-A works.
As far as I can tell, the receivers work--they hear signals; the radio
appears to go into TX mode, but there is no output.
The only part of the radio worked on was the display, which required
folding down the front panel. When I swapped and reswapped display
boards, I did check all connectors and ribbon cables. I am certain that
there are no misplaced connectors, and I repeatedly reinserted and
tested all ribbon cables. (I am experienced in electronics and am
comfortable working on this stuff.)
*Here is the kicker. I cannot reset the radio! Although the bottom three
buttons on the keypad function, I cannot perform any of the three resets.
I am stumped. Can anyone intimately familiar with MP's offer some
suggestions--including to whom to send the radio?
