I'll know for sure in a few days when the 262 degree plug arrives. I 
still think it is the correct one, however. Take a look at the outline 
drawings at the bottom of page 8 of the DIN connector brochure which I 
have temporarily placed on my webpage at 
http://home.comcast.net/~johnb3030/files/din.pdf . The 270 degree design 
is 8a and the 262 degree design is 8b. Notice that the 7 outer pins of 
the 270 degree are all the same distance from the edge of the connector, 
while on the 262 degree the pins at each end are closer to the edge than 
are the other 5. When I look closely at the location of those end pins 
on the band data connector on my FT-1000, they are closer to the edge 
than are the other 5.
