[1000mp] 70 MHz IF tap

Hi Harold,

It should be possible to tap off the 70 MHz first IF ahead of the roofing
filter. The sampling output should be buffered. This will allow connection
of your RF spectrum analyser.

Cheers for now, 73,

Hi, Todd,

I tried the same method, only to be unhappy.

Matter-of-fact, I bought the very last NIB SM-7071 for over a thousand
bucks, hoping to match it up to the FT-1000MP-Mk-V.

I ran the 70MHz. to a gold connector on the apron and plugged the scope up,
only to find out through extensive questioning that the 70MHz output is only
12KHz wide!

So now I'm stuck with a thousand dollar scope that can switch from
10.7 to 70 MHz I-F's. I'm thinking of opening up my old Kenwood TS-450AT
rig and yanking the I-F on that. The best thing about that project is both
the Kenwood and the SM-7071 are 12 volt DC, (the '7071 does 120 ac or 12
DC), so it could be great for a battery type field day.
