Dear Charlie,

The 'MP needs two different voltages, 12 and 30.

If you plan on running an inverter, please be aware of the potential
heating problem caused by the irregular waveforms inverters produce.

The '29 power supply is a switcher and feeding that with a simulated
sine wave might affect its MTBF in the long run.

For me, the radio is too precious to deliberately subject it to
substandard power supplies. I will probably never be able to afford
to replace it with something comparable in quality for the price it
brought when I bought it.

If I was in your shoes I would be running something like a Kenwood
TS-450S/AT
that is 12 VDC supplied and 100W out.
