[1000mp] FT1K, RigExpert Plus, and MixW

If you can, test the CAT functionality of ur MP in a terminal program using
a regular COM port....  The last time I took a lightning hit here, the CAT
chip in one of my MP's got blown up (other than that, it worked fine).  I
understand that they are susceptible to static charges.  

If I didn't have two MPs, I probably would have beat my head against the
wall trying to figure mine out too ;-)

I am using a RigExpert Plus, FT-1000MP MKV and MixW 2.18 software.
 
After a new cable, and many, many e-mails with RigExpert Canada, I am still
unable to sort out the CAT function.
 
Is there anyone on any of these reflectors that can help me sort out the
problem.
 
Computer is Windows XP pro.
 
Please, I am at my breaking point with this set-up.  No reason why it
shouldn't work
