Bruce,
I feel your pain. Getting PCs and transceivers to
talk to each other in a meaningful way is not trivial.
With all the stuff you've tried, I would send the
RigExpert back and try something else. I'm currently
using a Rigblaster Pro and it has done a great job.
I've also used the Rascal, and while not optimal, it
does work (just don't try to get technical support).
My latest gadget is the Signalink USB interface. It
doesn't need it's own power supply (draws off USB),
has it's own built-in sound card and costs less than
US$100. While I needed tech support to get it running
in the first place (the manual is incomplete), it only
took 15 minutes on the phone and it was running like a
charm. The other neat thing is that it can plug into
your accessory jack or your mic jack (your choice).
