[1000mp] Pulse + MONI?

Hi all! Long-time lurker, but happy MkV owner for about two years now. I've
been pseudo-active for a few months and am just getting back to it. I notice
two odd things with my MkV and wonder if they're related:
 
1. The LED's on the front panel and the lights in my room pulse slightly
with the CW I'm sending. I've tried moving the light to different plugs in
the room with the same effect. I don't really notice it with the overhead
light but the desk lamp pulses slightly.
 
2. If I listen to the MONI when I xmit CW it sounds really bad - almost like
the note is incomplete or warbled, if that makes any sense. SSB audio sounds
great (if my voice can sound great).
 
I'm still making contacts without any trouble - in fact I got the VU7 on my
new 80m 4SQR this evening, so I am getting out. I haven't had anyone local
listen to my note yet but I'll try to do that soon.
 
Any ideas? Related?
