Thanks for the information....
Yes, we've found the FTdx9000D has some software problems...but it looks
like DX Labs has found a solution. AA6YQ (Dave) worked on the Commander
program ...and we now are able to click on split spots...and the 9000
follows...and does not lock up. Dave put in a lot of effort and apparently
has found a solution to the Yaesu CAT problem. I've been beta testing his
latest release all day and it seems to work.
Additionally, Paul (DX4WIN) has been actively working on a solution. It
looks like we will soon have this monster tamed!

I am on a bit thin ice when commenting, since I do not have the radio
myself - only helped my brother to debug the CAT problem in his FT9000D. It
was an early version from the production (I do not have the serial no any
more).
At the end we were not able to find anything that would have made a relevant
improvement. The problem is to my best understanding that FT9000D external
control has too little of processing power allocated to manage the function.
This mean that the response times can be very long (I have seen taking even
10sec for the radio to change the band via ext control command) and this
causes intermittent behaviour to the control/logging SW - even freezing. We
found that Ham Radio Deluxe SW worked 'somehow' - many others worse.
Try adjusting response times from your SW (if possible) and rig end to the
lowest possible. The real cure will only be a new firmware version from
Yaesu. I hope they are working on it.
Otherwise FT9000D has excellent RX performance RF-wise - it has the best
receiver IMD-vapability I have ever measured.
