My FT1000MP is working again thanks to B&B Technical services. According to Bill, K0ZL,"On the Local unit there is a SMD transistor used as a DC fuse; it is an ingenious circuit that a)magnifies the effect of a filter cap on a DC buss line and b) blows instantly whenever there is an overload, so that no damage occurs to the PC board traces. This device supplied 9v to the PLL oscillators; when it blew, it supplied only 3.6 volts to the oscillators, amps, buffers and mixers, which left things running at like 10 percent efficiency! PLL dividers don't like that much. " Q4031 on the local unit has been replaced, the alignment performed and all is back to normal.
While the rig was apart, Bill also installed the Inrad CW waveform/ click modification as well as additional RF input DC overload protection for these dry , snowy days here in Arvada, Colorado. The CW signal TX bandwidth as witnessed/ heard on a receive monitor is much better than before. Now I won't have to worry about getting yelled at by some of the 160m big guns during 160m contests! HI! I would HIGHLY recommend B&B Tech Services here in Colorado for your Ft1000MP repair and modification needs as well as any other rig types.
All of tha above work was completed at a very reasonable rate. (I was surprised)
73 and thanks to everyone who responded with ideas, tips, recommendations, etc.

original problem
A new problem started today with my FT1000MP. I have a service manual and have worked on the rig before but at 47 my vision isn't what it used to be (time to get reading glasses) and I am having a very difficult time reading the small type in the service manual drawings.
Here are the symptoms and what I have proven out this morning:
-No discernible SSB/AM signals on 15, 20 and 40m. I heard an SSB signal for a short few seconds but it sounded like SSB audio with heavy Aurora flutter. I am hearing "squiggly/ squeakies all over the band where there should be voice audio. I am hearing a high noise floor.
- Everything is fine on 160,80,10 and the WARC bands.
-There is no TX monitor audio on the "bad" bands with no SSB/ CW monitor/ sidetone audio when I transmit with the monitor function on. The other bands have TX monitor audio for both CW and SSB.
- The sub receiver hears fine on all bands.
- When I transmit on the "bad" bands I have an RF signal transmitted that follows the waveform of my voice and the wattmeter shows RF out and the SWR is normal. It's anyone's guess as to what the TX audio sounds like. I also see RF out when TXing on CW
- I called a couple of stations while listening on the sub RX with the main Receiver on the same frequency to no avail so I suppose the audio on TX is not normal.
The last time I used the rig was during the ARRL SSB SS last month co-incidentally only on 15,20 and 40m. Anyone have any ideas on what may be the problem?
What is common to 15,20 and 40 that is not common to the other bands???
Thanks for any help.
