The loss of receive has been attributed to everything from poor solder
joints on the VCO to bad relays when it comes to tapping for a fix. look at
the information presented here

Subject: [1000mp] Loss of RX in Mark V
Hi all
First I need to correct myself, I recently asked for help on locating a
problem with my mark v with regards to it going completely deaf on all bands
main and sub receiver.and now I realise that it is the main receiver that
stops receiving and not the sub receiver, and with a little tap on top of
the casing it comes back to life, can anyone please throw any light on the
matter please and thanks.
