[1000mp] Keyer question on Mark V Field

Hi Bruno,

I uncovered a couple of bugs in the memory keyer of my MkV but nothing like
you describe. If I had to guess, I would say it's most likely something
weird with the paddles...maybe contamination on the contacts, shorting
wires, misadjusted pivots... I'd try another set of paddles and carefully
go over the MFJ ones.

Subject: [1000mp] Keyer question on Mark V Field

Hi there,

When using CW mode with my Mark V Field, I sometimes get a strange
behaviour: when *briefly* pushing the "dit" paddle of my Iambic key in
order to get only 1 or 2 dits, sometimes I get several additional dits
(1 to 3 more), as if the paddle was stuck in the "contact closed"
position, which I think is not the case, as I release it quite quickly.
The key itself is an MFJ-564 and my keying speed is around 20 wpm, so
not very high...

I fear my internal electronic keyer might have a little problem, as the
MFJ-564 involves nothing but mechanical/electrical parts, but I'm not
sure of the origin of the issue. It may also be that the tension spring
is not tight enough. The extra dits don't happen systematically, they
just show up from time to time, which makes the whole thing rather
exasperating as it's difficult to reproduce when I'd like to show
someone else (Murphy's law, as usual).

Has anyone seen that kind of behaviour before ?

Thanks in advance for any answer.

Best regards,

Bruno
