I have pondered the same question(s) ... and also 
noted that W8JI now has a pair of Mark Vs too.

The FT2K audio with processor seems to be a challenge.

Did you see Rob Sherwood's PowerPoint on the newest
generation of DSP rigs and related issues.

Just a thought or two ...
