Hello Jon, the Rel 1002 & 1005 problem is well known
around, but also the VRF relays either the mkV &
Fields.
I have already substituted them with originals.
Only because the space on the PCB has been calculated
for those measures.Of course any RF good relay could
do the job, but the space, the holes on the PCB  and
the Voltage\Power  require only the originals.

Hello to All,

I am new to the group and just purchased my first Mk
V. I have not yet put it on the operating desk. After
doing some tests with a signal generator the 6 and 18
db settings on the attenuator are not working. Also,
the VRF acts as if it has a bad relay in it. I have
traced it down to RL-1002 and 1005. Looks like when I
tap on them I can get the signal to come back up as it
should be with a 100 uv signal into the antenna jack.
I still need to check into the condition of the
resistors used in the attenuator circuit.

I am wondering if there is a better replacement for
the  relays that are used. I am looking at the Omron
relays from Digi-key. I see Mouser has a couple brands
that will work also. Any comments would be
appreciated.
