[1000mp] SUB Busy light comes on when not in split mode

Gang,

I got a call from a friend in California who has the same radio I do, an 
FT-1000 MP Mark-V Field.  He has some vision problems and occasionally will 
push a button on the rig unintentionally.  

He says that when he transmits the "SUB Busy" light comes on.  I asked him to 
check to make sure that both of the RX and TX lights above the main tuning 
dial were on. They are.  I asked him to check to make sure that the "dual" 
light was not on.  I had him push the buttom to make it come on and then 
again to go off to be sure.  The "SUB busy" light still comes on when he 
transmits.  Any ideas what could be turned on, or off?
