Hi Frans,

Assuming you choose Stereo option 1 or 2 in menu 4.8 it is easy to balance
the volume of the main and sub receivers. There are 2 menu choices on how
this works. In menu 4-9 you can choose Balance or Separately. If you
choose balance then the sub receiver balance control is used to balance the
volume of both receivers. Tune to a station using both VFO then adjust the
sub receiver control until both are the same level in each ear. I prefer
the separate choice in menu 4-9 as the sub receiver volume control adjusts
the sub receiver and the main AF knob adjusts the main receiver.

Here is from the manual:
4-8 HEAdPHon
Headphone Mode - Selects one of three audio mixing
modes for use with headphones:

Mono - Audio from both the Main and Sub receivers
is combined and heard equally in both ears.

Stereo 1 - Audio from both the Main and Sub receivers
can be heard in each ear, but SUB VFO
audio is attenuated in the left ear and MAIN VFO
audio is attenuated in the right.

Stereo 2 - Audio from MAIN VFO-A is heard only in
the left ear and SUB VFO-B in the right.
Note: Both VFOs must be activated by the [DUAL]
button on the front panel, and the main and sub audio
must be balanced using the AF GAIN and SUB AF
controls, to experience this feature.

4-9 AF GAin
AF GAIN Control - Provides setup of the AF GAIN
and SUB AF front panel controls:
Balance - The audio level for both VFOs is adjusted
by the AF GAIN control, while the SUB AF control
adjusts the balance.

Separate - The audio level for each VFO is adjusted
separately (AF GAIN control for Main receiver's
volume, SUB AF control for Sub receiver's volume).
