[1000mp] Sub VFO on FT-1000MP

I have sent a couple of ft1000mp's to Yaesu and every single time it has
been a power supply regulator. I would check each and every power supply
voltage before giving up. I posted the results on this reflector a couple
of years ago, but the symptoms varied from no power out to unlocked vco
problems and other really bad symptoms. Good luck.

Subject: [1000mp] Sub VFO on FT-1000MP
Hi from Down Under.
My FT-1000MP has develloped a fault in the Sub VFO.
When rotating the tuning knob the frequency does not change accept the last
digit on the display.
However this digit changes randomly, sometimes going up in frequency when
tuning down and visa versa.
The change is not smooth but jitters.
There is no jitter in the display when not tuning.
Is there anybody on this reflector that has come accross this problem and
perhaps knows what it is and how to fix it.
Or perhaps a technical guru that knows this radio better then I do that can
help.
My other option is to send the radio for repair to Sydney which is a 1000
Miles from my QTH and I really don't want to do that.
Damage to the radio in transit would be a real possibility.
Looking forward to advice
Warmest Regards
Michel vk3kvw.
