[1000mp] Failed FP-29 Power Supply

When your house gets hit by lightning and you have a homeowner
policy the provision in your fire policy should cover lightning damage.

If the radio was off and the power supply on, it seems that a spike
might have entered through the a.c. wiring or through the RF frame
and then went through the radio frame to the power supply and then
to the a.c. electrical ground.

Either way, Rich, you still spent thousands on the radio and
a hundred in shipping to determine if there's collateral damage
is but a fraction.

Pete/Harold:

Thanks for the replies.

I feel that the damage took place due to the wind/snow static through
the antenna system. Or maybe it came through via the mains, but I don't
think that is likely.

The more I think about it I probably should send both the rig and supply
back. At the time I heard the pop the rig was actually off, but the
supply was on.

Hopefully this won't be an expensive repair, if it is I'm hopeful that
my home owners policy will come through on this one. A quick call to my
agent confirmed a $500 deductable. However, we are talking about
insurance companies so I'm hesitant here.
