Example given:

Serial number 0 F 040 205.

The 0 refers to the digit of the hardware year of manufacturing, in this 
case 1= 1990.
If the serial number would be 0F040205A (ending with an A), then the 
manufacturing year is 2000.

(In your case 9 = 1999).

The F refers to the month of manufacturing (counting January as C, 
February as D, etc.). So F = April.

(In your case E = March).

The 040 is the batch number, so 040= Batch 040.

(In your case 420 = batch number).

The 205 is the actual serial number, so 205 = Serial number 205 (within 
batch 040).

(In your case 029 = serial number).
