Hi Ron,
I may have had that problem in the past. All sorts of strange displays and
even blank as far as I remember. It was a 9volt regulator (TO220) on the
main board.I replaced it with an 8Volt regulator that I had on hand and
without access to a 9v jobbie. I will see if I can find out the component
designation and what notes I have on what I did.
I was off for three months about three years ago and since that, the radio
has been a bit of a problem. It would not turn on sometimes. Once it was
left switche on for 24 hours without actually turning on.Temperature is not
a problem I don't think as the shack is between 75 and 90 deg F.
Lately I have problems turning the EDSP on and most recntly a few days ago
I lost received audio on both RX channels. That remained so for a few hours.
went to work and came back to having audio again.
So much for advanced radios.
I now use my old TS930S but not too active these days.
Tell me your thoughts about the TS 850 as I may consider going to Kenwood
again but not for the very expensive models like the Ts 2000 for economic
reasons.
Regards
Frank 9Y4VU
