[1000mp] Protecting Front Ends/lost front end twice

I bought a Mark V in 2001 and it lasted until 2004 when it died. The
front panel showed all 9 or S's or some such things. I sent it in for
repair to Yaesu and it cost me $500+ to have the control unit replaced.
They said it was bad but could not find out what caused it.

Two days ago I turned it on again and had the same problem. I have
faithfully disconnected the antenna and the 110 plug when I am not
using it, however, the ground wire is connected. Don't think it can be
a lightning problem. The rig works fine when it works.

Has anyone experienced such problems so frequently. I am thinking of
giving up my allegiance to Yaesu. I have about $4000 invested in this
rig since I bought it. Now, of course, they are cheaper.

Is it worth fixing again??
