[1000mp] Protecting Front Ends

I recall the discussion a few weeks ago about whether the Mark V receiver was protected when it was transmitting and an antenna was connected to the RX antenna input. Rightly or wrongly, I now have a Front End Protector between my receiving antenna and the Mk V RX input.

I do, however, have another rig - a FT-857D - which is normally off when I'm running my Mark V and I could have the receive antenna connected to it. Is it safe turned off but with an antenna connected when I run 400 watts to my nearby dipole?
