[1000mp] MKV on an inverter

Sirs,

The almost-square waveform produced by inverting
power supplies that do not have shaper circuits wreak havoc
with all sorts of commo gear as my personal experience attests to.

In the long-distant past, now, the dynamotor was used for tube gear
running off battery plants. While this made direct current, the rotary
alternator provided the sine wave needed for transformer operation.

If you were to put the inverter output on a reasonably fast oscilloscope
you will be amazed at the spikes and irregular wave form, whose pulses
go right through transformer windings into sensitive electronics.

When setting up broadcast cameras for EFP application and commercial
60Hertz power is just not available the method of choice is always a
regulated
alternator, not only because of the cleanliness of the sine wave output, but
because
some equipment uses the 60 Hz signal as a time base, too.

Thanks for the reply, Joel.
Did you try any line filters?
