[1000mp] FT1000mp serial port communication

A shot in the dark here.

One thing that seems to be common to all the things that you tried is 
that you're plugging and unplugging a connector.  Maybe a bad connection 
in the connector on the cable or on the card.  Have you tried wiggling 
the connector in place to see if you can make the problem appear/disappear?
