I've tried that already and it works better than the MKV. Actually I
think the 1000/D is better than the MKV. However don't believe me,
goto Sherwood web site and have a look at the numbers a result of his
testing. The Pro III topped the MKV for DR at 20Khz and was the same
at 2Khz. In fact check out the ARRL extended lab tests, the numbers
will both surprise and disappoint you. I know it did me as I had
high hopes for the MKV. Having said that the IRAD roofing filter
saved the day. I highly highly recommend it for the MP/MKV. I just
had other issues with the MKV so I sent it on it's way. It is still
a very good receiver, but there are other better ones and I may just
install one in my 775 and it along with the quiet LO should make it a
super receiver for close-in work.
I take it you have not used a ProIII? I think you said you owned a
775, I still have mine, it's a late version and works very well on
the upper bands, 10 and 15. I can hear the weakest of signals and
it's very selective also. DR is one of the best, in fact tested
better than my beloved FT-1000, that blew me away. I guess I
listened to too much of the hype. The FT1000 is a very good
receiver, but....it has a few drawbacks. I hated the course 10 hz
tuning. I could go on, but I'm finished.
Anyway it's TGIF
Cheers
