[1000mp] Mark V Field in CW Mode

I used a Mark V Field a bit over the weekend in the Russian DX contest
(CW) and noticed that the clicks/thumps in the headphones I've
complained about previously on this reflector just are not significant
when the focus is on weak signals and making contacts. This is as long
as Menu 7-7 (CW-receive) is "off."

So although I can hear the noises if I work into a dummy load, the same
clicks/thumps are not an issue in the real world. That's good news,
because the Mark V is an excellent CW rig overall and does very well
under contest conditions. (I like the Ten-Tec Jupiter on CW as well, but
in contests it is no contest.)

At its going prices used, the Mark V 's a steal. It's a very solid,
trouble-free rig that can hold its ground against the new, pricier
software/firmware-driven rigs for years to come IMHO. If you own one,
I'd hold onto it. Just my two cents.

John, W3ULS
