The new MkV arrived just when the selection of filters
did from INRAD.
Instead of the roofing filter the IF filter was chosen
because contesting seems too much like work,
and I would rather not be rushed at this stage of
the game.
All the filters installed easily, and the wads of
bulletins accompanying the INRAD filters
brought a semblance of understanding with the new radio.
For all you Mk-V users:
The Mk V menu selections, especially concerning the
filter settings, are confusing for someone from a
1000D background.
Do any of you have some wisdom to offer the group
as to what menu settings best use a complete set
of filters (400 Hz, 2100 Hz and sub-receiver 455 KHz
filters?
Next, the FT-1000d sub receiver was able to be
connected to a separate antenna. My antenna for the
'1000d sub receiver was at 90 degrees to the transmit
antenna and I was able to catch stuff the main
receiver missed.
What do you think the best way is to maximize the
use of the sub-receiver?
Thanks!
