Hi Dennis, i just got around to reading your posting now- what you're
relating says that the 1000mp is tough and rugged as they come. considering
the sparse use i give my field, it should last almost indefinatly! your
suggestion on the problems that the other user was having with intermitant
operation and a failing ps makes the most sense-vy 73 rick ve1rnm

Subject: [1000mp] Internal PS Failure

I was the guy that had his internal PS fail in my 1000MP. That MP has been
transported to 6 different countries (to Zone 2 in Canada 6 times in the
back of a car), operated intermittently from both 110 and 220VAC, used
extensively on RTTY at 70 watts out, logged over 10000 hours of actual
contest/DXpedition use, and been turned on for 30000 hours since I purchased
it in 1995. I've long since come to the conclusion that if the major
electronics failed tomorrow, I got my money's worth. Sure, I'm disappointed
that the internal PS quit, but I don't feel that it was in any way related
to a design flaw in the internal PS.

As the internal PS got flaky, my MP exhibited the exact same problems that
the other person was comenting on. Turns out they were all a consequence of
the PS dying.
