Hi Cecil, you are absolutely correct. They get so involved with number after
number that they forget to hook up an antenna and listen. Hi Thanks for
the good words. Worth at least 3 cents of course HI Thanks, Tommy

Well said Tommy,
My personal experience has been that with most of the top end radios
built in the last 10 years most are operating at the theoretical limits of
RF anyway on the receive side. I don't for a minute believe there is a top
end radio out there that will hear things that other top end receivers
won't...all things being equal....i.e. antenna systems, conditions,
setup.....
I've played with the conventional designs and the full DSP implemented
ones....they are all just really close. It's more down to a choice of
ergonomics and bells & whistles for the most part. The roofing filter thing
is a great improvement and fortunately can be added to some of the earlier
radio's such as the MP and D models to bring them up to the current
performance levels, as far as rejection, as the new $10K radio's. The test
numbers are a bit different between the top several high end rigs but the
real world performance is nearly identical. Shoot even the ole R4C can be
put up in the world class for a CW rig with these filter improvements....
Just my 2 cents worth of course...:-)
