To add to the weirdness of this problem, some Mrk Vs don't have this problem
at all!

I too have experienced delays on my FT1000 MK5. Delays more prevalent when
at 60F than at 75F. Humidity doesn't seem to have been a factor for me.

Now, this may not be very helpful but might provoke some more postings.

I have been intrigued for some time about the habit of the FT-1000 Mk.V
Field to take several seconds for the display to light. Fortunately, it
always does and I've been told not to worry about it.

What intrigues me is how sometimes it will light up after only two or three
seconds and at other times it will take much longer. I have the impression -

I need to keep notes - that how long the display takes to come on is
influenced by the temperature and humidity in which the transceiver is
left - taking longer when the transceiver is cool and damp.
