[1000mp] Mark V Display

This display issue has been around for a long time. I have owned three MP's
including the actual radio that QST product tested in '96 (I think). Of the
two older MP's, one display came on instantly and bright, one would wait a
few seconds and then magically appear...but it always came on. The Mk5 I
have now comes on instantly but dim, then brightens to normal. So, ...throw
a dart and see which one you have...As long as it comes on at all I am
thankful. HI

I read somewhere, and it works most of the time for me, that if you turn on
the power supply first and wait a few seconds before turning on the radio
the display comes on dim, but comes on. Of course this is for the Mark V,
not the Field.  Yaesu says that this is normal for the radios and there is
no problem, but lets face it this is not normal, but apparently Yaesu
doesn't know what the problem is with the display.  Maybe someday someone
will figure it out, but for now I guess you live with it if you have the
Field.
