Hans Remeeus (PA1HR) Good info, but I don't understand why the 2.8 =
filters
are not working in slot 1 and 3 on the board. It would be nice if =
someone
who has installed using this method could share some insight on this
subject. Do I need to reset radio for these new filters to be seen?
Thanks Bob

I need a little help. I install the 2.8 filters in my Mark V. My first
surprise was to discover that the OEM 2.4 for the 8.215Mhz was solder =
in,
since I was inform my many that the factory filter were plug-in. =
Needless to
say that this discourage me from replacing the 2.4=12s with the 2.8=12s. =
Not
because of the soldering, but I didn=12t want to get into removing the =
board.
So giving up any transmit benefits I just install the 2.8=12s in the =
optional
slots thinking that I might take on the board issue later. I had no =
2.0=12s
filters installed so I use slot 1 and 3. Now to the problem. I went to =
the
menu settings and turn on 5-1 and 5.5. Now when I select Nar1 or Nar2
depending on my 5.0 setting I think the filters are coming on, but I am =
not
sure and there is very little signal on the s-meter. Also my CAT =
software
is not seeing the 2.8 filters. What have I done wrong or have I =
forgotten
to change something.

Thanks for any help.

Hello Bob,
To prevent these problems it is wise to install the Inrad 2.8 kHz/455=20
kHz in place of the OEM-filter.
I did this in my Mark-V and FT-1000D and it really looks more difficult=20
than it is!
Just pull out the two flat cables and the one coaxcable at their side.=20
You don't have to remove any other cable.
Afterwards just flip the board over.
Have a look at this photo:

De-solder the OEM-filter with an enough hot solder iron; let's say 350C=20
degrees. And use thin de-soldering braid (litze) size 075 e.g. from=20
Chemtronics
It really is quite simple and you will definitely get the best results=20
(RX and TX)!

Good luck and always willing to help you.
